Painter Ole Skauge was born in Trondheim, Norway in 1979 and studied art at Oslo’s Einar Granum School of Fine Art. He moved to Britain in 2006 and now lives and works in Brighton.
He sees the world with a ruler in his mind; the geometric nature of his work derives from an obsession with straight lines and a passion for colour. Ole's work has therapeutic, energetic and meditative qualities, offering viewers a choice of focal points in which to lose themselves and dream.
The earlier, more abstract paintings are all quite accidental; nothing is planned. They are the products of his imagination -influenced by how he feels about his environment and the complexity of his life.
Currently he is moving away from abstract work, in a more pictorial direction towards landscapes and cityscapes, still in a geometrical style and experimenting with the way in which colours either harmonise together or repel each other.
